How We Test Your Fertility Status

The act of conception is exceptionally complex, even in the best of circumstances. Many factors can impact your ability to conceive, some of which are impossible to tell without diagnostic testing. No matter how difficult to catch or understand, fertility testing can provide invaluable insights into what’s going on and how to correct it.

  • Comprehensive Fertility Testing for Women

For women, getting pregnant, sustaining a pregnancy, and giving birth rely on a complex reproductive system that consists of several organs and hormones. If there are hormonal imbalances or problems with your reproductive organs, it can make it exceedingly difficult to conceive without fertility care. When diagnosing our female patients, the fertility specialists of Indiana Fertility Institute offer a full spectrum of diagnostic procedures, including:

    • Standard blood work
    • Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) testing
    • Recurrent miscarriage analysis
    • Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) testing
    • Ultrasound
    • Endometrial biopsy
    • Endometrial receptivity assay (ERA)
    • Genetic testing (i.e. carrier screening, chromosomal microarray analysis, karyotype testing, etc.)

  • Comprehensive Fertility Testing for Men

Although fertility testing is often focused on female factors, it’s estimated that up to 50% of infertility cases between heterosexual couples can be at least partially attributed to male factor infertility. Male factor infertility is typically characterized by issues with sperm, such as low sperm count or poor sperm motility. Our fertility diagnostic procedures for men include:

    • Semen analysis
    • DNA fragmentation testing
    • Y-chromosome microdeletion testing
    • Genetic testing (i.e. carrier screening, chromosomal microarray analysis, karyotype testing, etc.)

Additional Fertility Screening Measures

Aside from gender-specific diagnostic procedures, which are typically performed before initiating a fertility care cycle, Indiana Fertility Institute also performs genetic testing for in vitro fertilization (IVF). These tests screen embryos that have been created through IVF for chromosomal abnormalities or genetic conditions. Our genetic testing procedures include:

  • Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A)
  • Preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic disorders (PGT-M)
  • Preimplantation genetic testing for chromosomal structural rearrangements (PGT-SR)
