Understanding Fertility Success

We are committed to the transparency of our results. All certified IV laboratories, such as IFI’s, are required to submit their success rate data to the Center for Disease Control each year. The CDC then publishes their data if they are members of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). Indiana Fertility Institute is a proud member of SART and will walk you through our results on SART and what they mean.

What is Assisted Reproductive Technology?

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) refers to any procedure or treatment where eggs or embryos are handled. ART does not include sperm being handled, such as in intrauterine insemination, where the sperm is artificially inseminated into a woman’s uterus.

In vitro fertilization is the most widely known form of ART, but all others are possible options for patients, depending on their health needs and condition. Common types of ART include:

  • In vitro fertilization (IVF)
  • Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT)
  • Pronuclear stage tubal transfer (PROST)
  • Tubal embryo transfer (TET)
  • Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT)

Each year, the CDC publishes a report on all members of SART, and the data typically takes two years to publish. Our SART data can be found here, and our doctors will proudly walk you through what they mean.

It’s important to realize that because fertility is on such a case-by-case basis, that individual results do vary and can deviate from the average. And while pregnancy is never guaranteed, we are committed to doing everything we can to make you a parent.
